The Charterhouse's Strategy for Environment Responsibility
The environmentally friendly and sustainability enhancement programs are merged into our daily operations, from front of the house to back of the house. We execute our environmental programs by minimizing generation of wastes including :
- Reducing energy and water consumption
- Reducing waste at the source
- Saving energy through installing energy efficient lightingsM
- Initiating more recycling plans and implementing in-house program to encourage to reuse their towels and linens daily to reduce water consumption
- Sourcing environmentally preferred products
- Joint effort to recycle food waste
- Replace bed linen or towels upon guest's request to reduce daily use of detergent
- Enroll ourselves actively in different envirnmental campaigns to enhance the sustainability of resources among local communities
Our Green committee and staffs are all committed to working continuously towards a more sustainable future by protecting and preserving natural resources and minimizing our impact on the environment.
The Charterhouse Causeway Bay Hotel Hong Kong Supports Foodlink Recycle Activities to Fight Hunger
As part of our sustainability program, The Charterhouse Causeway Bay Hotel Hong Kong is pleased to announce our participation with Foodlink Foundation by donating surplus food to the charitable organizations in regular basis.
The Charterhouse Causeway Bay Hotel Hong Kong started its co-operation with Foodlink, a charity organization founded in 2009, with the mission to mitigate hunger, fight poverty and foster nutritional wellness by reducing food wastage in hotels and restaurants in Hong Kong. As a partner, The Charterhouse Causeway Bay Hotel Hong Kong donates surplus food from buffet table and staff canteen regularly while Foodlink will organize and deliver the food to people in need. Through continuous collaborations since July 2013, we have donated approximately 870kg of surplus food and served an average of 1,800 meals to the needy.
Mr Bernard Rodrigues, the General Manager of The Charterhouse Causeway Bay Hotel Hong Kong, said, "We fully support the food recycle activities organized by Foodlink. On one hand, this meaningful event can help the underprivileged in the society; on the other hand, it can help to remind the public to treasure food as well as to reduce food wastage."
The Charterhouse Causeway Bay Hotel Hong Kong will continue its procedures to reduce food waste at the source by carrying out more accurate demand forecasts and different internal training program. Besides the hotel’s Green committee are all working continuously towards a more sustainable future by protecting and preserving natural resources and minimizing our impact on the environment.
The Charterhouse Causeway Bay Hotel Hong Kong - Beach Cleanup Activity
Being a responsible corporate organization, The Charterhouse Causeway Bay Hotel Hong Kong had recently joined a “Hong Kong Cleanup’ activity organized by Eco-vision Asia and co-organizer by Fox International Channels to consolidate our green efforts to raise awareness in protecting the beach and the natural environment.
A group of Charterhouse go green committee wore tidy white and green uniform and headed to Deep Water Bay to clean up the beach. The group was divided into 5 patrols of 3 members each, all members worked actively to pick up the rubbish. After the hard work for two hours, we have collected different types of unwanted materials (such as plastic bottles, batteries, rope, cigarette butts etc) and create a better environment and the clean image of Hong Kong.
We always respect the environment and follows clear green policies for sustainable development in its operations to conserve resources for future generations. In the future, we will continue to organize environmental activities to encourage people to be eco-friendly and make the Earth a better place for everyone to live.
